Our Mission Experience in Vanuatu

Hello, my Family and my dear Friends! It is my turn to share with you our week of service here in Vanuatu. I must begin by telling you that I LOVE Vanuatu in the Wintertime! There is a gentle island breeze that we enjoy on most days. The evenings are spectacular although the locals are freezing. On Friday of this week, I taught Institute for Katimal as he was on the island of Santo for an Inservice training meeting with teachers there. I went into the classroom to set it up and opened all the windows! The breeze was glorious! I was in a very happy place. As the students arrived, they went and closed all the windows. Blah! My happy place was for a moment. The students were wearing long sleeves and jackets. The temperature was around 68 with the breeze. Hello Family & Friends, It’s my turn to write this week’s letter. I always wonder if my ramblings bore you, but if even one of you enjoys them, then it’s worth it. Darleen and I aren’t great journalers, so these letters also give us a weekly reminder of what we have been doing while having this opportunity to serve such wonderful people. Here are a few highlights from the week (not all in order). After church this Sunday we had to stop and  look at the beach as the waves crashed over the coral.  The beauties of the ocean are incredible. Visit to Mangaliliu Village The little Presbyterian Church that was organized by missionaries that visited the islands.   It still has  the bell they brought from England. Salutations everyone! It’s raining, It’s pouring! I have never seen it rain like this since we arrived. We have entered dry season, and the Lord has blessed the island with an abundance of rain. We attended our Eton unit yesterday and with a tin roof we could hear absolutely nothing.  With no Microphone, and the rain it was  difficult to stay engaged. The speakers were definitely the benefactors  yesterday. This is our Sunday morning Sacrament meeting. A little loud outside.   Poor sister who was speaking wasn't heard by anyone. Although, when we all sang the hymns that was a beautiful sound. We had 22 who attendance. We usually have 70 – 80. Mark and I picked up Brother Fred Massing who teaches the temple prep class in Etas. We had planned the primary singing time and the teaching time.
